Roles:

Functions as an ASL language mentor, recruits and provides technical assistance to deaf language mentors.

Coordinates the sign language mentorship program, assesses language mentor's skills, identifies training needs, develops and conducts ongoing training and information sharing sessions to ensure that mentorship expertise is maximized and novice interpreters are effectively used.

Coordinates the mentorship activities by compiling and updating a database of lead and language mentors, provides training and conducts evaluation activities.

Travels to remote areas of the state to provide training, recruiting novice interpreters, recruiting of skilled interpreters and establishing distance education mentorship's.

Manages and administers sign competency interviews.

Reviews and designs mentor training curriculums.

Collaborate with Metropolitan Community College's Sign Language Interpreting Program and other existing post-secondary institutions to establish rural distance and video education coursework and summer intensives.
