Peggy Williams, Mental Health Specialist

Roles:

Conduct formal and informal needs assessments to determine resources needed to serve deaf and hard of hearing individuals in mental health settings.

Monitor and review mental health activities and provide technical assistance to mental health providers serving deaf and hard of hearing individuals.

Coordinate training, intervention and provide information to deaf and hard of hearing individuals, programs serving deaf and hard of hearing individuals, interpreters and the general public about mental illness, alcoholism and drug abuse disorders.

Advise and guide service providers and representatives of community based organizations in the delivery of services for deaf and hard of hearing individuals.

Coordinate and oversee the NCDHH Mental Health Advisory Committee.

Collaborate with the Department of Health and Human Services to define criteria and standards for access to mental health, alcoholism and drug abuse treatment programs for deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
