Sign Language Interpreter Review Board Member Application

Nebraska Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is seeking an applicant to replace a Licensing Review Board Member.

  • Must be a resident of Nebraska.
  • Must have at least a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must work for a city/county or government agency (cadidate may be hearing, deaf or hard of hearing).
  • Experience with the function and use of sign language interpreting services in their agency.
  • Must have leadership experience.

The Licensing Board is responsible for establishing the regulations, serves as a board of inquiry and investigates claims of use of unlicensed interpreters by a state agency or law enforcement entity. The Board meets on at least a quarterly basis; the meetings generally are two hours in length with most meetings being held on Friday afternoons. Members are reimbursed for their expenses (mileage, parking, lodging).

The Interpreter Review Board meets four times a year. Your term, if you are chosen will be for a maximum of three consecutive years. Most meetings are in Lincoln. Gas, mileage and parking expenses will be reimbursed.
