Omaha DeafNation Expo a Huge Success
NCDHH said months before the April 19th Omaha DeafNation Expo that it would be the biggest event ever held for Nebraskans who are deaf or hard of hearing. We were right.
Thousands of people from across the Midwest flocked to downtown Omaha to get a chance to see the latest in communication technology and chat with friends. Vendors were flooded with so many people that some purportedly ran out of items to sell.
People were lined up outside the doors of Mancuso Hall hours before the event was scheduled to begin. NCDHH would like to thank all the volunteers who helped register people so that everyone could have an enjoyable day. In addition, NCDHH would like to thank the presenters and organizers of the hearing loss seminars that were held at the Doubletree Hotel.
Stage performances at the expo ranged from game shows to an address by Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy. A giant inflatable play area was available for children, and adults could have been awed by the sprint car of deaf racer Greg Gunderson.
