Cordless Built-In Amplified Phone
This phone is the same as the built-in amplified telephone definition; the only exception is that this phone is cordless.
People who are hard of hearing who have some residual hearing and use their voices use the built-in amplified telephone amplifier. The amplifier makes sounds louder and clearer. Built-in amplified phones have an adjustable volume control.
Phones manufactured after January 1, 1989 must be hearing aid compatible. If a person’s hearing aid has a “T” switch, the conversation can be amplified without an amplifying device on the phone. The Hearing Aid Compatibility Act of 1988 required that telephones located in common areas of the workplace and all credit card operated telephones be compatible with hearing aids.
