Procedures to call for an after hours interpreter

  1. Identify yourself and your agency.
  2. Ask if the interpreter is available to interpret at the specific time that you need someone.
  3. If available, give the address of where the interpreter is to go and whom they will be interpreting (deaf person).

Do not give the deaf person's name to the interpreter until they have accepted the interpreting assignment. Interpreters are listed according to qualification and not guaranteed availability.

Interpreters are listed from top to bottom under each city according to their qualifications levels, with the highest level listed first.

As of September 1, 2007 if you are a state agency or law enforcement personnel, you are required to hire an interpreter licensed through the Nebraska Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Courts and probation officials are required to hire interpreters specifically trained for legal interpreting.
